Error 114 can trigger for various reasons. Below follows a list of workarounds that have been confirmed to work for the majority of players that encounter this error.
Run the game in administrator / compatibility mode:
-From your Library on Steam, right click on HELLDIVERS 2, then click on Manage, then Browse Local Files.
-Go to the folder 'bin', right click on helldivers2. Select Properties then go to the Compatibility tab.
-Tick the box 'run this program as administrator'. If you are using Windows 11, also tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows 8.
Manually uninstall and reinstall GameGuard:
-From your Library on Steam, right click on HELLDIVERS 2, then click on Manage, then Browse Local Files.
-Go to the 'tools' folder, right click on 'gguninst' and run it as administrator. After uninstalling is finished, reinstall it using 'GGSetup', again run as administrator.
Turn off utility programs:
Error 114 may sometimes trigger for non-hack related programs. Try shutting down various utility programs until the game runs. If you find out which program is causing the issue, we would be very thankful if you could get in touch with us to report its name to us.
Disable any Firewall or Antivirus software, or add an exception for nProtect GameGuard and HELLDIVERS 2.
This also applies if you are using Microsoft's default Windows Defender! Make sure that you add an exception for nProtect GameGuard and HELLDIVERS 2.
Disconnect any older Hard Disk Drives that may be connected to your computer, as in a few rare cases they have caused the process of registry creation to hang.
